Nature or the Outdoors? Understanding the Power of Language in Elementary School Students' Connection to Nature (Julianne Reas)
Connection to nature scales measure self-reported connections using the terms “nature” and “the outdoors” interchangeably, without considering whether children’s perception of these terms change their reported connectedness. This study intends to inform more precise measurement tools and better understand the influence of language choice when discussing the natural environment with children.
